Lighthouse Charities, based in Las Vegas, NV, welcomes, assists, and empowers the vulnerable and displaced, transforming their lives and equipping them to be integral members of society.
Who We Help
We provide core services to the the vulnerable and displaced in our community, offering a welcoming, safe, and supportive environment where people can access key resources: life skills and job readiness classes; paid job training opportunities; ESL instruction; citizenship preparation classes; and a corner market. We also provide wrap-around support services such as clothing, household items, school supplies, bus passes, industry-specific tools, and employment assistance.

This program provides job opportunities and a funding pathway for our other support services.

Our beautiful two acre garden and hydroponics program serve as an exciting new training ground for individuals who find hope and healing by spending time outdoors.
Frosted Bakery
Generates earned income for the organization through the sale of baked goods and other popular catering items while providing job training opportunities.
Nafasi Designs
A socially innovative platform that provides refugees resettled in Las Vegas a way to become self-reliant.

Since our founding, Lighthouse Charities has earned the trust of the refugee communities and the confidence of the individuals receiving services. We have garnered a strong reputation in the Las Vegas valley, and is highly regarded as a lead resettlement agency, working with dozens of community partners and more than 900 volunteers each year in support of refugees.

Carmen’s Story
My story began in Nicaragua…
I arrived in the United States as a refugee in January of 2023. I was completely alone.
Because I disagreed with the corrupt government in my country, I was persecuted by those in political power. They pursued me with force and violence, causing me to lose all I had worked my whole life to achieve and compelled me to flee for safety in nearby Costa Rica.
But they didn’t let me go so easily.
Josephine's Story
I was born in Congo, Africa. I am 58 years old. I have five boys and four girls. My husband died in Congo.
I speak Kinyarwanda, Swahili, and a little French.
I sold yogurt and butter in Congo for work. I also farmed beans, potatoes, and other vegetables.
We left Congo because of war. We went to camp in Rwanda in 2005 and stayed there for 17 years.
Louisa’s Story
I was born in Congo, Africa, and am 35 years old. I worked as a teacher before war came and we had to leave. We lived in a refugee camp for 10 years. We all lived in one tent, my husband and seven children and me.
We came to Las Vegas in October 2022.
I like that we have a nice place to live, food, and schools for children in America.
My dream is to become a citizen of the United States.

Today we honor our friend, Helen Holland🤍
A woman of grace, faith, service, and quiet strength—who lived 103 beautiful years loving people well.
Helen was a cherished supporter of Frosted Bakery and Lighthouse Charities, always encouraging the work and the people behind it. She believed deeply in community, dignity, and showing up for others—and she did, again and again.
A lifelong learner, Helen returned to college in her 100s and walked across the stage at 101 to receive her degree, reminding all of us that it’s never too late to grow, serve, or try something new. She saw greatness in everyone and somehow made you believe it too.
To celebrate her legacy, we are honored to feature Helen’s famous fudge at Frosted Bakery—made with love, just as she lived. May every bite remind us of a life well lived and a woman who made the world sweeter simply by being in it.
